Q: What’s your favorite anime?
A: Well, I don’t really judge anime based on their own qualities, I judge them on the characters. Sesshoumaru from Inuyasha is my favorite character, so there’s a vote for Inuyasha. I have a sentimental attachment to Yu-Gi-Oh!, so there’s a different one. For the concept, Sailor Moon and Speedgrapher are tied… Speedgrapher has art that bothers me and Sailor Moon is just bad, but they have great concepts and characters. So, um…. yeah…
Q: What was the anime that made you into an otaku?
A: Yu-Gi-Oh. I saw Sailor Moon in the mornings when I was ten or so, but I had forgotten about it, and I became obsessed with YGO as a teenager.
Q: Screw, marry, kill – which three bishounen would you choose?
A: Wow. Screw Sesshoumaru (over and over and over), marry Pegasus Crawford (because he would be a doting husband who would put you on a pedestal and shower you with romance for an eternity), and kill Van Finel. I haven’t read the Escaflowne manga, but man does that jackass irritate me in the series…
Q: What type of otaku are you?
A: An undercover one. I don’t wear a lot of anime paraphernalia, or talk about anime unless someone else happens to bring it up. You’d never recognize me.
Q: What character could you cosplay as best?
A: The shy childhood friend with glasses and big boobs, that hentai/harem anime staple.
Q: What series do you like to write/draw the most?
A: YGO, actually. It’s so easy to write for, and the huge cast gives you so many possibilities. It was also the first thing I tried to draw, as a teenager.
Q: What’s the scene you like most from an anime or manga?
A: The scene after Aoshi has fought Kenshin the first time in Rurouni Kenshin, and they get the Gatling gun turned on them, where the Oniwaban-shu give their lives for him, and he afterward walks away into the night, evading the police, with his legs full of bullet holes and carrying their heads. That’s very po9werful, and shows depth written into a character who isn’t the main protagonist, and showcases why I like him so much.
